Thermal Engineer (TE/0421)

The successful candidate will be responsible for the building performance and thermal solutions of our large structural precast projects.  Duties will include carrying out thermal calculations on buildings, modelling operational energy within buildings and successfully managing energy performance gaps. The key aim is low energy and low-cost buildings while improving occupant comfort and energy efficiency for our clients.

The Role

  • Educate clients and architects on compliance with passive design, façade performance, insulation performance and energy technologies.
  • Ability to use modelling software to model and predict a buildings energy use and energy savings.
  • Thermal modelling to illustrate heat loss at intersections/junctions for our full build design projects and make recommendations to reduce a buildings operational energy.
  • Educate clients on building energy requirements as set out by government for 2030 and 2050.
  • Experience of modelling buildings for greater building performance and low energy design, not just for compliance.
  • Assist with predicting and calculating a buildings heating or cooling loads to calculate cost analysis and carbon analysis.
  • Undertaking R&D investigations on new or emerging thermal technologies.

 The Person

  • Degree qualified in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Energy, Sustainability or Architectural Engineering
  • A minimum of two years experience in a thermal engineering role
  • A comprehensive range of thermal modelling for different building types including; commercial offices, hotel, residential, education, healthcare and retail
  • Experience using IES software
  • Low Carbon Energy Assessor
  • BREEAM Assessor credentials are desirable
  • Demonstrate a positive work ethic, a high level of accuracy, be organised and a team player
